Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Mahi fishing has been good with alot of schoolie size fish..The winds just switched out of the north which will slow them down for awhile but It should turn the Sails back on.There were some Sails caught this week and as long as we get some north winds we should continue seeing sails. The big story has been at the Islamorada Hump where the Amberjacks are biting very well and we had Darin Aaby and his family that fished with us this week and caught these nice Amberjacks. In addition to the Amberjacks at the Humps there have been some large Tiger Sharks caught this week. There was one caught that was estimated at 800lbs and another at 500lbs and they were eating Amberjacks!!The Blackfin Tunas have been good on the humps but they have been smaller fish in the 3 to 5 lb range.Back on the reef we have had some great Yellowtail fishing.Inshore around the bridges and in the channels the Tarpon are showing up in good numbers and live Mullet and crabs are your best baits.Happy Easter!!!!

Islamorada Fishing Forecast:

North winds should slow down the Mahi fishing a little and help our end of the season Sailfishing. Amberjacks should continue on the seamounts and deep wrecks and Mahi should be showing up as we get warmer and more east winds

Target Species:

sails, tuna, wahoo, amberjacks, mahi
