Islamorada Fishing Report

Capt. Marc Toledo
February 13, 2015
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

The weather has not been the best the last few days with a lot of rain yesterday and not many Sailfish being caught on offshore fishing charters. The Florida Keys have had a slow Sailfish season but there are some good reports of fish just north of us. Islamorada is also going to get a few more cold fronts in the next week and hopefully this will give us a late winter, early spring blast of Sailfish. The reef fishing has had some good Kingfish, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna action while waiting for the Sailfish to show up in the Florida Keys on our deep sea charters. The live bait has been good with plenty of Ballyhoo and Cigar Minnows available. The Yellowtail Fishing has been tough with some very clear water as of late, and wind against the current. These conditions make offshore fishing in Islamorada very tough for Yellowtails. The Cobias have been showing up in the sand on the Rays and few fish in the 40lb range were caught down south of Caloosa Can. Cobia fishing in the Florida Keys is done by sight fishing, and looking for Rays and large packs of Cobias will swim with the Rays in the winter here. A sunny sky, good tower on your boat, and a captain with good eyes is wants needed to catch Cobias in the Florida Keys this time of year.
