Islamorada hot tuna and swordfish bite

Capt. Bruce Andersen
September 13, 2013
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing's been great down here in the Florida keys lately. We've been catching a ton of black fin tuna, a fair amount of nice dolphin and some nice swordfish as well. The black fin tuna bite is red hot right offshore of Islamorada right now. We're catching the tuna while chumming with live pilchards fishing with 20# spinning tackle. We chum the tuna up right behind the boat and cast live baits to them. It makes for a very exciting bite. Daytime sword fishing has been consistently good with several nice fish taken in the last few weeks. Just yesterday we caught this fish in the 200# range dropping in about 1,500' 20 miles offshore of Islamorada aboard the charter boat Capt. Easy out of Holiday Isle marina. Here's a video of a slightly smaller fish caught a few weeks ago.
