Islamorada nice wahoo, kings and sails

Capt. Bruce Andersen
January 11, 2012
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

We caught this Wahoo on Sunday along with a bunch of nice kings and a sailfish. We caught the wahoo and kings on live speedoes on 20 and 30# spinning tackle. I know a lot of guys like to do the trolling thing with heavier tackle and I do too, but there's nothing like catching a nice wahoo on live bait with a spinning rod. He took us to the knot on the first run and put up a pretty good fight for about 20 minutes. The wahoo seem to be up and down the reef and there have been some nice ones taken this week anywhere from 100 to 250 feet of water. We've been killing the kingfish which have been pretty thick most days with some nice fish around and the sailfishing has been consistently good too.
