Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Sea Horse Sport October Fishing Report
Islamorada Sea Horse off-shore Fishing Report: We have been catching Sailfish, Black Fin Tunas, Kingfish, Mutton Snapper, and Yellow Tails. Fishing lately has been different everyday in the Islamorada area. Each day we have to discover what types of fish are moving through the area and focus our efforts on catching those fish. Frisky live bait has made all the difference in catching these fish. A natural presentation in the area where fish are moving through has proven to be very effective. Fishing the surface and fishing deeper areas simultaneously has helped produce good size kingfish, and Mutton Snappers. Putting together a nice catch of fish sometimes requires changing up techniques throughout the day.
Offshore Forecast for: More Sailfish, Kingfish, Cobia, Black Fin Tuna, and Cero Mackerel will arrive in the upcoming months to the Islamorada area. Most of this great fishing will occur on and around the edge of the reef. Some of the most effective ways to catch these fish is to use live bait. The preferred baits in Islamorada have been ballyhoo, Cigar Minnows, and Pilchards. There are other baits that have worked well like Pinfish, Blue Runners, Goggle Eyes, Sardines, Threadfin Herring, and Grunts. All these baits have their uses; however the three most common baits are the Ballyhoo, Cigar Minnows, and Pilchards which normally will catch every sport fish that swims around the Islamorada area. Many anglers have loaded up with these baits and attempted to catch fish during these winter months. Key points that have made a huge difference in catching fish compared to just fishing is to make a natural presentation, with proper hook size, and leader size. Oversized hooks and leader material will not allow a bait to swim naturally. A natural presentation is essential to entice a fish to eat your bait.
