Islamorada Tarpon - May

Capt. Duane Baker
May 22, 2013
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tarpon season is in full swing. Anglers are catching tarpon on fly on the Oceanside of the FL Keys and Florida Bay. Tarpon fishing really started to take off in late April. Now thru July is a great time to catch a silver King on Fly. We have enjoyed mostly great weather and there have been plenty of fish.

We have been hooking most of our fish on the toad fly. Other secret patterns are working well also. The worm hatches will be starting soon. That is a great time to throw a worm fly.

A cool added bonus in late April and early May are large Bull sharks with schools of cobia following along. Some days you may get 2 or 3 shots at the cobia on Fly. I expect to continue Tarpon fishing until mid July. Tight lines.

Capt. Duane Baker.
