Prime Time for Mahi

Capt. Marc Toledo
June 19, 2015
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Florida Keys fishing report from Reel Sharp sportfishing this week comes with some calmer seas. The Islamorada offshore fishing was a little choppy last week but the winds have calmed down here on our Florida Keys deep sea fishing trips. We are in prime time Mahi season but it has be a little slow on the bigger fish the last week. There has been A lot of smaller 20 inch fish coming through on our offshore charter trips. There should be a push of bigger fish coming in any day. There was a 150lb Blue Marlin caught this week. There has been a few Wahoo offshore caught this week and the Black Fin Tuna fishing has been very good on the 409 hump and West hump. Live baits like pilchards and cigar minnows are the best baits but trolling small feathers way behind the boat works well also. The Tunas have been in the 3 to 5 lb range. The Florida Keys reef fishing has had some great Yellowtail action in 60 to 90 feet of water. The Mangrove Snappers are starting to spawn and there have been nice Snapper fishing the last week. Inshore fishing for Tarpon has been very good with Tarpon in the 60 to 100lb range being caught in the downtown Islamorada area along with channel 2 and channel 5 bridges.
