Upper Florida Keys & Islamorada

Capt. Izzy Donatiello

Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Over the last several weeks the fishing has been great. The tarpon were biting good two weeks ago. That cold front came through and the fish turned off. However, as the winds come back around to the Southeast and south the fish will comeback strong. Again prior to this coldfront there were some small dolphin around. Saturday, the boats that went looking for them; went far offshore with poor results. I played it safe and stayed on the edge. trying for some bottom fish. We caught three Muttons, a Black Grouper and several really nice Mangrove Snappers. The Muttons have been biting good over the passed two weeks. This last week, we picked up about a dozen to 12 pounds.

Trout are biting strong as well as nice snappers in the deeper water channels. Tarpon snook and red should turn on as the winds clock around to the South again.
