Upper Florida Keys & Islamorada

Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Over the last weeks the sailfishing has been very good. Then the weather warmed up and the bite slowed. The wind then increase out of the Southeast, making it uncomfortable to fish in the deep water. Most of my customers; decided to stay shallow for groupers and snappers. We did catch some groupers but not like a couple weeks ago. However, the size of the yellow tails; increased we did get some over 20 inches, but not a lot. Just a taste of things to come as the spawn gets nearer. Some tarpon were caught with the wind out of the South, but as it clocked to the Northwest they shut down. The trout and mackerel have kept the rods bend in the bay. I been staying shallow until the winds come down. The fishing has been good, the customers have been happy.
