Upper Florida Keys & Islamorada

Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Last week I fished a long time customer of mine from California. When he arrived in Florida he was greeted with wind and cold temperatures. Wednesday as we left Robbies; the wind was blowing about 20 + miles an hour. the water temperature had dropped enough to cause the ever present tarpon not to show up. We decided to fish the patches for some bottom fish. The bottom bite didn't materialize as expected, too rough to feel the bites. However, the drift baits produced yellow tails snappers and cero and Spanish mackerel. It was not fun. came in early.

Cancel our trip on Thursday.

On Friday, the wind came down enough to fish offshore. We caught some live ballyhoo. and slow trolled them. There was a lot of flying fish in about 110 feet of water. Our first fish was a nice sail it eat the right rigger bait. I fished the same area for about an hour resulting in two other bites but no fish. I move offshore and found Kingfish in 170 feet.

Take a kid fishing for Christmas, book a trip with a full time pro call 1-800-320-2753.

Izzy
