Upper Florida Keys & Islamorada

Capt. Izzy Donatiello

Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

The last week was great for sailfishing. There are huge pods of bait on the edge of the reef. the sails are following this bait. Also enjoying the sardines are big jack crevalle. cero and king mackerels.

The offshore humps are holding some nice Blackfin tuna in the 20 pound range along with smaller ones. Live bait is the key to the bigger ones. Down deep are some amberjacks. A few Wahoo are also coming in.

Yellowtails are biting good when the conditions are right. Grouper and muttons are on the bottom.

The other day I went on a fun fishing trip. We went trolling for grouper. Fishing was a little slow. We did come in with a nice cobia, a red grouper and some cero macks. As the water cools down this type of fishing will get better. We trolled Mann lures; the 18+ and the smaller 25+ produced best.

Book a trip with a FULL time pro; call 1-800-320-2753.
