Upper Florida Keys & Islamorada

Capt. Izzy Donatiello
May 30, 2007
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

The winds have been terrible over the last couple of weeks. They been blowing 20+ miles per hour from the north - northeast. These winds have put offshore fishing on hold. The fish are out there, but not worth the punishment to get them.

The tarpon fishing has also suffered due to the wind. We have been catching them, but not in the numbers that are normal this time of the year. Mullet and crabs are the top producers. Dead baits have not been working a well.

I been running into the park to take people fishing. The trout, snapper and shark fishing have been good. Last weekend Quin Nichols of Rochester, N. Y.; caught a Goliath grouper. Note waves in the background; it will give you some idea of the wind.

More Fishing Reports:

Light tackle sportfishing in Islamorada Florida Keys. I specialize in live bait fishing for tarpon, trout, snappers and snook in Everglades National Park. I also fish for sailfish, yellowtail snapper, grouper and dolphin in the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
