Trolling the Islamorada Waters for the Billfish.

Capt. Kristian Demblans
August 11, 2014
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

I have always been a firm believer that if you fish it they will bite. Being always prepared for that huge fish is important. During the summer our main target species is the Mahi and Tuna. Since we are an offshore charter we seek sport. There are sailfish around during summer and also Big blue Marlin. To find the billfish feeding on Tuna and schools of SMALL Mahi, you have to fish for them. Keep that billfish bait in the water and find current rips where there a birds workin. Quite a few Marlin have been caught offshore the Purple Isle. Marlin inside 600ft. aswell as Sailfish. So dont count them out on the troll.

Islamorada Fishing Forecast:

Sailfish will move closer to the reef as fall approaches. We are also seeing more Wahoo around the full moon phase. Oct. is a good start month for a great wahoo bite.

Target Species:

Sailfish, Marlin.
