Bull reds

Capt. Scott Tait
August 22, 2010
Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

The best shot in this area for a true trophy is targeting the bull redfish found in the St. John's River system. With multiple species biting on recent trip we managed 8 redfish to 24",4 trout to 17", and 4 flounder to 18". Rounding off the backwater trip with a ride to the river proper we caught two reds to 20lbs. and several sharks. A recent report from Captain Rick Davis reported 14 bull reds to a whopping 50lbs.!

Jacksonville Fishing Forecast:

The fall flounder run is fast approaching with mullet, pogies and shrimp flooding the creeks and rivers. This is my favorite time of the year as all species gourge themselves and prepare for winter. So get your favorite jig or fish finder rig ready and tip it with a minnow, shrimp, pogie,or mullet and start prying the nooks and crannies of the rocks and docks of the St. John's River, you won't be disappointed.

More Fishing Reports:
