Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Boy what a month so far. We have had some great weather days but have more bad days that you just couldn't fish or should I say fish right. You know we have had some monster winds when 15 to 20 knots sounds calm!!!

I had several trips last week with some good weather and the fishing was not bad at all. I'm going to combine some of the pictures from the whole week. The water temp is still 63 degrees but should be warming up soon

The best trip was on Friday. I have been working several schools of nice Reds and I guess they were feeding good on Friday ahead of the front that was coming in that evening. We were sight fishing with Shrimp on jig heads and each school of fish was about 40 strong. That sure makes it easy when they feed. I can show you schools of Red fish all year long but they don't always won't to PLAY!!

One thing that is a sure bite when the wind is light is the Gnats AKA no-seeum's. They don't bother me much anymore but they drive most of my client's crazy….
There are still plenty of small Trout but we did catch a few nicer ones last week. They should be on fire by mid April. Also all the Blue fish you want to catch and they are big enough to get the hook now. We caught a few small Flounder which should also continue to get better.

I have several trips leading into Easter so I will get back to you next week with the straight truth on what is going on.

Until next time tight lines Capt. James Howard (904)651-9557
