Finding the Big Trout!

Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

With the tides still running very high the Red fish in the back waters have been a hard bite for me. When the tides are so high the Reds can stay in the grass and gorge themselves with all the food they want. Which means your best bet is to fish them in the flooded grass because when they do have to come out they are usually FULL!

On a trip this past Sunday the 27th of September 28, 2009 we decide to target the Trout and try to find some decent ones…

Float fishing with live shrimp in the river it was hard to fight off the Jacks. I have nothing against catching Jacks because they are such a good fight but we wanted to find a concentration of big Trout.

After fishing several spots we finally found the Trout. They were not thick but we did manage to catch sever fish in the 4 to 5 pound range.

Thanks for a great time Phil.
