Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report
I couldn't wait any longer to try the Flounder gigging… All the monster high tides last month kept the gigging on the back burner but we had a half decent low tide the other morning and I had to go!
The water was very clean but I was amazed at the lack of Flounder in the areas that I gigged. It's that time of year when the Flounder start moving towards the ocean along with the mullet. The mullet are certainly on the move so I guess it is only a matter of time before the Flounder start stacking up…
Not that it was a bad trip but I guess my expectations were a little higher. One thing we did see a lot of was the Sheepshead. We only managed to get 2 but we had chances at least a dozen more. They don't lie up like the Flounder do so they are usually on the move when they see the lights on the boat.
I was also surprised that we didn't see any big Flounder. October and November are my favorite months to get the big door mats!
All in all a lot of water covered and 12 Flounder and 2 Sheepshead in the box. There have been plenty of times I wish I had seen half that many fish so I guess it wasn't that bad.
