Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Trout Trout and more Trout! I'm so glad that the Trout are cold water fish and usually schooled up in big numbers this time of year…

When our water temperature gets close to fifty degrees the best bet is Trout if you want numbers. You have to catch quite a few to get a hand full of keepers but it is steady action and makes easy work on a charter.

There are also some nice Black Drum and Sheepshead to be caught. You all know by now what my favorite bait is this time of year. The four inch white body and green curl tail plastic on a quarter ounce jig head. There has also been some Blue fish mixed in with the Trout and a stray Flounder from time to time…

Fishing with Phil Baker on the 20th of January 2009 it was the same old song you know the one "Four Hours of Bent Rod's". Phil caught 37 Trout several Blue fish and one flounder throwing plastics. Now that's a good morning in any ones book!

There are some places where people are drilling holes in the ice to fish this time of year which will make you really appreciate North Florida.

Thanks for a great time Phil.

Jacksonville Fishing Forecast:

The Trout are still the main course. A few Sheepshead and Drum in the mix. Red fish are a flip of the coin.
