Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

High 90's, sharks behind the shrimp boats, hurricane season; it must be June. There are more pogey pods off our beaches than I can ever remember. Often they are closely monitored by barracuda, large jacks, and occasionally cobia. The big tarpon should start showing in the pods any time, along with sky rocketing kingfish. The water temperature is 79-80 degrees.

Speckled trout have slowed some for me. I have heard of a few large trout being caught on small live pogeys in the creeks. Float rigs have also been taking some trout off the ocean piers. Redfish are in all their favorite spots, ie., creeks, ICW, and jetties. Some of the bull reds could already be in the deep River anticipating the spawn in a couple of months.

Ladyfish, jacks, and bluefish are all feasting on baitfish up and down the river. Smaller tarpon have been jumped along the jetty rocks. Flounder are getting larger, but are not too plentiful. Whiting and pompano are
in the area. A few black drum are still being caught along the jetties.
