Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

A lot of freshwater from last weeks rains have made fishing challenging. More than a solid week of rain and high winds has the salinity low and the clarity level similar to dark tea. The upside is that the fish adapt fairly quickly and they still have to eat, right?
Dan and grandson Jonathan:

I have been concentration on areas closer towards the inlet which allows the tides to flush in the saltwater. The best action has been fishing small feeder creeks just off the Intracoastal Waterway from Sister Creek to Nassau Sound. The redfish are gorging themselves on mullet, shrimp, blue and stone crabs, which are very abundant throughout the inshore waters. Dark water and lots of bait make it necessary to slow down the retrieve when fishing lures. Scented baits, such as Gulp shrimp rigged on ¼ oz jigs, have been scoring on redfish and flounder when fished slowly or "dead stick" in the fishes strike zone.
