One Day to The Next!

Capt. James Howard

Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Thanksgiving week was a one day to the next kind of fishing week. We started off with a low pressure and rain thru the first of the week and my first 2 trips were totally different than what I had been doing.

Then we came into a small cold front that did cool the water a small bit but we are still behind this year as far as the cooler weather.

The larger Red fish are still a hard bite in the creeks mainly because of the extra high tides I think. When they stay in the grass most of the time they are usually full when they come out. There are still plenty of Rat Reds to be had. The Drum have also slowed down.

My main target this time of year is the Trout. There not all big but usually you will catch enough of them that you can get a nice mess for the grease!

The Trout were hit and miss also most of the week. One day I would catch at least 20 with several nice ones mixed in and then struggle the next day to catch a few small ones. The worst thing about the charter business is that everyone doesn't have a great charter.

Thanks to everyone last week for all the hard work and hope all has a great Holliday season.

Jacksonville Fishing Forecast:

The Trout are trying to bunch up. When you find them soft plastics is the best bet that way you can cover more ground. Plenty of Reds in the creeks just a hard bite sometimes. A few Blue fish are starting to show up also. Capt. James Howard Jacksonville Florida (904)651-9557

Target Species:

Trout/Reds
