Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Inshore report Jacksonville area waters

The weather remains "confused" with almost spring like conditions prevailing in between fronts. The water temps are ranging between 60 to 66 degrees.

Redfish are quite active in the creeks and can be seen cruising the banks at low tides. I caught a 25" red that was waving its tail at me last week in 6" of water on a grey clouser fly. They can also be caught in the ICW and along the jetty rocks.

Sheephead are grazing on the jetty rocks in fair numbers and seem to be spawning. Some ringtail porgies are also being caught at the tips of the jetties.

Speckled trout are spread throughout area waters, as are small bluefish. I haven't found any large concentrations of good size yellowmouth trout yet. Colder water should fire them off. Flounder can still be caught in the ICW creeks. A Gulp minnow on a jighead is effective for them.

Whiting are in the surf and in 30 to 40 ft of water off Ponte Vedra Beach. Black drum are being caught along the jetties and in deeper areas of the ICW and creeks.
