Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report
Inshore/nearshore report jacksonville area waters
The tarpon are finally moving into our waters in some numbers escorting the migrating pogie pods. This afternoon I saw tarpon crashing some pods right behind the breakers near my house. During the month of August I will be concentrating on capturing these powerful, high flying creatures.
Ladyfish, jacks, and blues are still common incidental catches on inshore waters. There are oversize reds in the deep river which can be caught on crabs, croakers, mullet, pogies, and cut ladyfish. Reds are also in the creeks, at the jetty tips, and along the edges of the ICW.
There has been quite a good run of flounder recently. Speckled trout to four and five pounds are in the area. The whiting bite in the surf has been red hot at the last of the ebb tide.
