Jupiter - Saltwater Fishing Report

Welcome Sails
Sunday was a beautiful fishing day for those who work or go to school during the week and get out during the weekends. The conditions were about 3-5ft offshore, near shore it was calmer. Trolling dead bait was not the way to go. Trolling between depths from 100-600 feet, nothing wanted to touch ballyhoo. As for deeper supposedly there is some debris and weeds around 1200ft.; I just did not have the patience nor felt like burning the fuel to go out there.
I definitly recommend getting some live bait, from either the live bait boat or inland waters and outside the inlet. A defined water color change in 212 ft which also had a dramatic temperature change as well as a current difference all made great conditions for early sails. A couple of boats were flying kites, although putting live bait out on four rods and attaching two lines to stbd and port outrigger with a extremely loose clip will serve the same purpose. Make sure to put the engines in gear every now and then to keep straight, slack free lines; youll get the hang of it after a while. Sails were all over leaping out of the water and hitting live baits all over. I think the bit of colder water and air helped the situation as it usually does.
I believe we might see a very good sail season this year. As last year the numerous numbers came in October, than the usual November. You will be able to find them around water color changes, temp changes and current changes. Live bait or circle hook rigged ballyhoo are your best baits.
If your going out - Reef fishing remains constant between snapper and other reef fish. I talked to somebody who went diving the report was plenty of snapper and lobster.
If we get a little cold front get live bait and give it a early shot on sails, if you dont get sails I almost guarantee kings or if a school of dorado come by keep them around.
