Jupiter & Palm Beach Offshore Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Rob Mazzei
December 10, 2001
Jupiter - Saltwater Fishing Report

Jupiter offshore fishing

Warm weather here in South Florida hasn't slowed offshore fishing here in Jupiter. In fact, on several days sailfishing was red hot. After roughs conditions for a couple of days early last week large schools of flying fish and ballyhoo have been pushed in attracting sailfish, kingfish, dolphin, barracuda, amberjack and sharks.

Reports were that south of the Juno pier 90-120ft packs of sails were pushing bait on the surface and were eager to bite any kind of live bait. Even dead ballyhoo or sardines cast into the melee will catch fish if aloud to sink naturally, as if a sail just killed or stunned it.

Dolphin fishing has remained to be hit of miss. Some days one boat will catch 10, other boats none and the next day vice versa.
