Jupiter - Saltwater Fishing Report

Good Dolphin Bite Continues!
This past week has been the best dolphin fishing in recent memory. Although don't be mislead, not every boat is finding fish everyday. If you are lucky enough to find the conditions that favor dolphin chances are you'll find fish.
Monday we found a 4x4 piece of plywood in 1100 feet, Tues. we found a log in the same area, Wed. we couldn't find any condition but did manage a 13lbs cow running flying fish in 85 feet. Wahoo were under the floats as well, we managed to catch two before we lost site of the board.
Lately we've focused on fishing just inside the reef in 85-90 feet. Drifting with small pilchards and dead sardines for snapper and rainbow runner. Schools of dolphin have running the reef line and busting on bait, mostly flying fish. One of the head boats fishing the same area loaded up with nice dolphin Saturday p.m. Keep a light rod ready with a small jig, and one with a small hook so your ready when the show up.
Sailfishing has been slow, we've seen several free jumpers, still no takers.
Kingfish haven't show up much either.
Again we were promised a cold front and again there was not much to it. Slightly cooler, dryer air moved in but 80 degrees by 10am is definitely not a cold front.
Around Jupiter inlet, the mullet schools have thinned out considerably over the last month. I saw more mullet in August. Jetty fishing has reflected that fact with only a pick of bluefish and mackerel being seen. I hope the mullet run is not over yet, because it'll be time to start buying live bait that's not cheap.
