The Report You Have Been Wanting to Hear

Capt. Colin Hickey
December 24, 2008
Jupiter - Saltwater Fishing Report

If I could end this report by only saying "Sails" I would because thats all you need to know. However, I will promise you if you fish on the right winds, conditions, right baits then you are virtually 100% guaranteed to raise one, but, its up to you to bring it to the boat. And as always Release your billfish. Click to Enlarge Photo

Yesterday and today have been ugly days to go out, but, Christmas Day you may be able to land a sail or at the very least some Dolphin if these strong winds have blown debris in. They are not forecasting a NW to NE wind till next week it looks like, as I believe is the best wind pattern for sails, but, they are in such large numbers right now that there will still be plenty raised.

For sails work the 90 to 140 ft range but I have been raising some out as far as 188 ft and 206 ft the other day. I have been using blue runners for bait, people using goggle eye and have had the same success. Blue runners have been in small numbers and time consuming to catch however I beleive is worth it compared to buying in these economic conditions today.
