Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report
Southwest Wind comes Through again
With another southwest wind the group on board today was expecting a slow day of action, but that was not the case. We took a while to get bait, working the Cut for small, medium, and large pilchards. Then searching the diving gulls in hawks channel to locate nice size threadfins. After bait fishing was complete we crossed the edge to find dirty water and a slight north current. We figured that the clean water might come in south with the north current prevailing. Sure enough we were right. As we hit Triumph reef the edge came in and we picked up a slight weed line that looked good. We followed the line for a half mile before encountering a nice school of large schoolies. We caught 40 of the fish (our limit) and proceded to the south off pacific light. At that point we began to live bait fish out of the Kite. We got one side out and bingo there he was. He ate a flat line we put out and the show was on. Only fishing another 2 hours we managed 5 Sailfish and missed two others, they were in 100 to 125 ft. and biting the threadfins best. I think Wednesday should produce another great day with the winds going around to the north, if the current stays with us.
