Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
April 19, 2001
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

A GREAT COUPLE OF DAYS

Well I was right; all we needed was a little weather change. Wednesday was a great day of fishing, due to the cool north breeze and strong north current. I fished two half days and wish I had 3. We fished north in the morning and south in the afternoon. The morning gave up 25 dolphin and a Sailfish, and the Afternoon gave up 5 sails and 10 dolphin. The bite turned on late, around 3:30, and the bite was good. The fish were in around 140 ft. and flying to the south. They were biting large goggle eyes and threadfins fished out of the kite. We had a new Record set on the CUTTING EDGE this great day. Take my kids out of the mix and George Sullivan age 8 was the youngest to catch a Sailfish with almost no help. He did a fantastic job and I was extremely proud of him. His Brother Sully Sullivan did a fantastic job too, capturing his first sailfish at age 12. Father Frank Sullivan also caught his first and his Brother Shawn caught his who knows, he fishes with us all the time. The youngsters also did a great job capturing some nice dolphin.

Today the action slowed down a bit but there were still some Sailfish around with some dolphin to boot. Hopefully the action will continue throughout out the weekend, the Co Co plum Sailfish tournament is Friday through Sunday. And we are going to Win. I HOPE>

If your going fishing over the Weekend you should have good action, but try to get bait in the bay for the offshore bait supply is nearly depleted. Some boats are spending half a day catching bait.

We had Goggles Eyes on our boat. Thank Goodness.
