Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
May 31, 2001
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Drop in Action

Today the winds were light again and the seas calm. The grass lines are beginning to break up and the fish are scattered. Today Niel ran the boat and he only caught 10 Dolphin but they were nice size, in the 8 pound range. He decided to go on the edge at the end of the day and try for a sail or Black fin. Lucky CUTTING EDGE, they caught both. A nice black fin ate a live Cigar minnow in 140 ft. and a Sailfish which we released ate a live threadfin in 120 ft. They did not have any other bites in the Hour they were on the edge. The bigger fish have been in the Grass and are hard to spot. Trolling a weedless ballyhoo through the grass is your best bet, then cast a live bait when you see the fish chasing your bally.

Good Luck
