Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Weather Creating Havoc
With winds in excess of 30 miles an hour and rains like I can’t remember in ages, just getting away from the dock has been an experience. I can’t remember a time when a whole week would go by and nobody would leave one of the best charter docks in the world. Last week we had 4 canceled trips because of weather and one because of a fear to fly from a steady customer. The good side of all this sitting at the dock is the now available time to stock pile leaders and fishing equipment that we will be needing in the next 6 to 7 months of hopefully nonstop action. I have noticed that for the most part our customers from out of town are starting to book trips. The fishing should be getting good, with plenty of bait in the area and a good east wind all of last week the bait should be moving into the bay. This is the time of year for Kings to move onto the reef along with Mackerel. Fishing with small, light wire rigs with live bait should produce action. If your fishing along the edge be ready for schools of Dolphin to be pushing though, this is the time of the year when you get packs of big fish moving south. Sailfish should also be on the move, each cold front that moves through our area brings more and more fish.
If your trying to get out but the weather is keeping you at the dock, to like the pro’s, stock pile your rigs so when the action starts you’ll be ready.
