Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
October 27, 2001
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Cool Blast of Excitement

Prior to the Cold Front that just hit the South Florida area late friday, we had a few days of excellent Dolphin Fishing. Wednesday and Thursday were Dolphin Derby Days catching our limit on both days. The fish were all nice size with a few large fish mixed in. They were in grass patches in 800 ft.. The fish were biting large Blue Runners, which will tell you the size of the fish. Our customers of Wednesday had a fantastic Day to say the least, they flew in from Chicago on a full PLANE (things are looking better)with no problems(Even more Better)to jump on the Cutting Edge and charge of shore in search of Dolphin. The first Patch we found had some bigger fish which we caught all but one. We then pushed the Cutting Edge along the patches until Co-Capt Dr. J spotted a free jumping dolphin off shore. We charged in that direction to find the mother load. We captured our limit of large sized dolphin which helped keep the streak for these lucky guys alive, Bob Cantell and his friend Jerry and Brother in law Miqaul, last trip Bob and Jerry caught 11 sails on the Edge. Friday with the front here the winds kicked up to 20 Knots and the seas erupted with action. I was late getting out to the action but soon found Dolphin chasing flyers everwhere, Hawks were diving above. The fish were nice size but hard to locate, they were racing quickly through a rough sea, which makes it tough. But we did get a couple of 15 pounders and some schoolies. This action was in 300 ft. Fishing is getting back to the way I like it, fast and active. And I hope to see you all soon, ON THE CUTTING EDGE.

NOW THE ACTION IS ON !!!
