Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
November 30, 2001
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Full Moon takes the Light out of the Fishing Today

The full moon and calm seas seemed to have slowed things down today. The current slowed down and that to had a large effect on the slow fishing today. We only caught a few dolphin and kings and that was one of the top catches today. Sails had been biting, and I believe they will start up again when the next front pushes through. For now, the moon is going to slow down the fishing during the middle of the day. In the mornings is going to be the best for Sails and Dolphin. The drift boats also reported slow fishing. The best action today was mackerel. In hawks channel the mackerel have been chasing thread fins and pilchards to the surface. Using a live pilchard you should be able to capture them. BAit has been good in the bay.
