Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
December 18, 2001
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Mackerel in the Bay!!!!!!!!

When I was a kid the fishing in the bay was fantastic, Mackerel were abundant and the action is most likely what turned me on to fishing. Today, I once again was able to enjoy myself watching my customers on the Cutting Edge catch mackerel the way I used to when I was a Kid. We fished the same old area just inside of Stiltsville and chummed with madhaden chum and fished with shrimp and small live Pilchards. The fish are mostly 3 to 5 pounds which is good for the Bay. It was a great time for all. Offshore we found a few floaters and caught 18 dolphin but that was all that was going on today. We had the best catch by far and it seemed a bit slow for us. The cold front is pushing through today and I believe it is what we need for a nice jump start. Attached is a picture of the Days catch including the Mackerel from the bay.
