Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hot For Us

Today we had a Half day AM. As we left I have to admit I was questioning myself on how good could the fishing possible be today with no wind and a millon boats. We did not panick and blazed out to fowey to check the conditions before going anywhere. I noticed the water color was much better than the past week and noticed a grass line in 200 ft. We worked the line for only a couple of minutes before finding a couple of dolphin. 10 to be excact. Next we decided to work to the south and search for free jumpers. It only took a couple of minutes before seeing one jump inside of 120 ft. We raced in and tossed a couple of baits and bingo, caught the first one. A big fish that was hungry. We then decided to cruise to the south for a couple of drops on the club wreck. No good there. A few thoughts later we decided to go back on the edge and put out the flat lines. It was good luck that it only took about 10 minutes and there they were. After a half hour battle we caught the double. That happened in 130 ft. OK, now were satisfied and heading home when I spot offshore a leather back, and his passengers. One hour later and a couple of sore arm we had 3 big cobia on the boat. They average 40 lbs. Overall the fishing was good the bait was slow, and I'm not sure where to suggest But I would try bug light or look for the white gulls picking over sardines.
