Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
April 10, 2002
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Great Morning

Today the winds were still blowing good, but again a boat full of vikings permitted us to venture out a give it a shot. The seas were 4 to 6 and higher but the current and blue water were pushing in to the south which made it seem OK. As soon as the Cutting EDge pushed off the edge I spotted a hawk on the water which eventually yielded 10 nice schoolies. They were in 200 ft and biting anything that hit the water. Next we decided to ride the edge to the south in search of more dolphin, soon our efforts rewarded us with another nice bunch of dolphin. This school we just spotted cruising the color change. After we had a good 30 fish we decided to kite fish, that was a waste of time with only 30 minutes remaining in the trip. Only a couple of Dolphin for all the hassels of flying the kite with 25 knots of wind.

With time up I started home running the same edge I had going south, this time I again spotted a leather back turtle with lots of baggage. After lots of yelling and excitement we had 4 big cobia on the boat. These fish ranged from 35 to 60 pounds, it was assume.

So over all for us the day was great. The boat is back out for a PM half I will let you know how that goes later.

tight lines

Lets go fishing
