Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
April 18, 2002
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing Exciting

Today the Sailfish were biting pretty good, but we had 2 half days and missed the major bite. We caught a fish in the morning after only a few minutes but the PM half was slow. The bite started around 11 AM and ended around 2:30 PM. The fish have been deep and biting mullet and threadfins. Some Dolphin have been showing up on the edge and in eleven hundred ft. Mostly under birds and floaters.

Bait has been the toughest I have seen in a long time. Bug light has a few and the monument can has a few in the mornings. There are some pilchards in the bay, but you have to hunt a long time to find them.

Fishing should remain good this weekend and into next week.

The exciting new news that I almost forgot about was the showing of Black Fins. We are seeing a few each day and catching one or two. One boat that fished late today caught 7 . Thats COOL, and so is the CUTTING EDGE
