Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Another exciting Day on the EDGE
Friday started off like any other day, a half day hotel trip out of Key Biscayne. The weather was assume and I had a good feeling about the days outcome.
I got to the boat early and went to get some threadfins, knowing they had been tough the day before
, good move. With plenty of bait we hit the edge ahead of the rest of the boats on the trip. We found some Dolphin as soon as we hit the edge and I can remember thinking to myself they are perfect Blue Marlin Size. Knowing that It stayed in my mind for a while as we moved south along the edge. Talking with the other boats it sounded slow but we decided to try anyways, good move. With the baits in the water only a few minutes a huge dark shadow showed up near the long bait, at first with the sun in my eyes I thought hammerhead, the dorsal was out of water and the fish looked large, not to mention to dark for a hammerhead. As the fish circled the long bait the middle bait began to get active. I motioned to Capt. Neil, my mate friday, to pick up the middle and reel down tight, as he did the reel began to smoke and the ocean turned white with water as if a truck had crashed down. A tough battle with the fish nearly dumping us on 20 before we could get the normal 10 lines all in. But, as fate has it if the tackle is in good shape and the anglere hangs in there you will usually win. And we did, a 130 blue marlin was the Trophy that day. The ironic thing was the other fish was most likely a huge female Blue Marlin, and by the size of the Dorsal I mean Large. It was assume and I wish all my readers could have seen it. I hope your next adventure brings you all as much pleasure and excitement as that fish gave me.
