Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Heart Break
Well it has to happen every year at least once. The dreaded break off on a nice fish. Today was the day. 4 oclock and all was well, a sailfish, 5 Dolphin 6 kingfish 15 pound mutton, and then the unfortunate. The right long float hits the water at about 100 miles an hour, the line screams toward us and then offshore, yep the fish of the year. Yellow fin and big. Well he took all but about 50 yards on the first run and then more on the second. With about half a reel back on, the fish decided he had had enough. Off to the end he went, the Cutting Edge screaming in reverse was not enough. We had to push the drap up even though we knew the drag is aready to tight. We had no choice. With about 40 yards left the line parted. It was fun but it always hurts when you lose a nice fish. But at least we got the thrill of the bite and fight. Thats the price you pay to be a sportsman.
Bait has been tough, and the water is good to the south.Tight Lines
