Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle

Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Red Hot

Today with over a hundered boats fishing the Miami Fishing event I thought I might be in trouble, wrong. There was plenty of fish to go around. We first started to fish for kings after hearing about some bites off the boil but it did not turn out to be good. So, we picked up and ran to an area off the key I have been fishing the last couple of days. That now was good. First fish of the day was a 18 pound mutton snapper that got our taste budds moving. Next was a Cobia, on the deep line and then another Mutton. Basically everything was on the bottom. Finally a couple of Kings and then finally our first Sailfish. A small fish which ate the long bait a Thread fin. A short time went by until the water began to look as good as I have seen it in a long time. Blue as blue gets with about a 3 knot north current. I moved out of the king fish depth and into the blue, just about 10 minutes and bingo our second Sail. We were getting ready to head in when our patience paid off, another sailfish and the biggest of the day. All in all another great day on the edge.

We have a few days off the following week if you want to get into the action.
