Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
April 1, 2004
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

School of Sharks

Weird ? Yes. I have never seen it and did not see this one, but heard all about it. Jimbo on the THomas Flyer and Craig Fountain on the Fine Line spotted a commotion on the surface and raced to it. Thinking it might be tuna

both tossed out baits. Craig saw some tuna and was fighting a fish on my way in which he never saw. Could have been Tuna or maybe a shark. The giant splashes were a huge school of sharks, a mile long. They look like Black tips Jimbo said. They were all the same size for the most part and 5 to 6 ft. long. They stayed on the surface for around 20 minutes and then went down. Really Cool, swim anybody?

Other news: The edge is alive with Bonito, small kings and your occational Sailfish. Some nice mutton snapper in 100 ft. and some Cobia cruising south on the edge. A few Dolphin showing up and some mackerel on the reef.

Tight LInes and no Tangles
