Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Miami Offshore Report
I had the pleasure of fishing with a good customer of mine Bill Borkan. We fish aboard his 45ft Hatteras "Bill Time". We left the dock at 9:30 am and were on our way to catch bait. We arrive at the cut at about 10:20 and started marking bait. We marked school after school after school but only picking up 3 dozen in 1 hour. Needless to say baitfishing was slow. We managed a couple of dozen baits and decided to take a run offshore to see what we could find. About 20 miles out we came up on a nice looking rip, 2 degree temp change, some scattered weeds and birds working. I decided to put out a couple of baits and troll the area. About 20 minutes down the rip we come accross a beautiful tree branch loaded with all kinds of fish. For the next 3 hours we caught schoolie dolphin, 2 out of 4 wahoo up to 20lbs, rainbow runners, a few sharks, and some nice bar jacks. We had fun catching them on light tackle using jigs and spoons. At 4 pm we decided we had enough and wanted to make a drift or two for some kings and maybe a sail. We set up off the twin towers, caught one king and missed one sail. All in all it was a great day offshore. I still have a few dates open in late Feb. Lets get out there and catch some fish!
Tightlines,
Capt Joe
