Key Largo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Reef Fishing 10/17/10

Got out on the inside reef this week and found a good bite with light tackle fishing with shrimp.

Lots of yellow tails, porgys, macks, hogfish, mangrove snapper and jacks. Every spot we hit had alot of ballyhoo in our chum line. Fishing live ballyhoo on heavy spin we got nice muttons,

,shark, and cudas.Did not have to wait to long for a bite with live bait. As cold fronts start to come threw we should stat to see some grouper mix in. Action inside was fast so we did not have to go out to the edge of the reef line and fish deep.

Went backcountry one day last week and got lots of trout up to 20"fishing over the grass beds. Ladyfish and jacks mixed in on the drift. Hit a Creek mouth a hooked up a few nice snook and got mangrove snapper as well. Fishing around Flamingo reports of more snook action but nice to see some in the eastern bay.Snook got hit hard last winter with the cold fronts and we lost alot in the shallows of the backcountry, hopefully they will make a good come back to eastern Florida bay. Still some tarpon around in local spots close to home.

Tight lines
