Key Largo - Saltwater Fishing Report
Reef/Offshore Fishing update 5/08/10
Offshore is on ,Dolphin are in the gulf stream from school size to Slammers up to 50 lbs and every thing inbetween.Blackfin bite was also on this week around the underwater sea mounts off key largo.
The every now and then sailfish and Wahoo are also moving through. Winds were light with perfect conditions this week seas out side around 2 foot. Spin offs of the gulfstream can be found right at the reef line in spots but the true edge is around 12 miles out. Reef fishing on the edge in 40 to 90 feet has also been a good bet hogfish, groupers, porgys, jacks and a bunch of other stuff on the bottom hitting shrimp and cut baits. Free lining the top lots of legal yellow tails, cero macks, kingfish and some big Bonita.
With this pattern of light winds out of the south east the ocean has been a great bet no matter what you go for. Got a bit warmer (air temp) but still not the heat of summer yet. From now threw June every thing is on(tarps, backcountry, reef and offshore), really a super time of year to be fishing in the keys.
Tight lines
Captain Bob...........
