Key Largo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Got out Feb 2 to get a Wahoo for dinner, the wahoo fishing has been pretty reliable of late as it always is during the front and back of the February full moon phase in the Florida Keys. The rest of the day got the big Vermillion Snappers and Porgies in the 5-8 lb. range.
On Sunday afternoon Feb 3 on a half day and Feb 4 on a half day morning charter with regular clients from Pennsylvania. We did a little Sail fishing on Sunday late, but that got old quick. These guys always want that rod bending and are not into "dragging and snagging", they thought they wanted to try something new this year, but no. We got a few Muttons Sunday night before dark. On Monday Feb 4th I stuck to bottom fishing and rod bending not Sailfish or trolling just strictly bottom fishing for Muttons. On every drop we were hooked up for 5 solid hours. A few spots the sharks were just thick so after trying 5 areas I found one with no sharks and got the pink ones. Been getting the big Porgies of late, they are not the most glamourous fish, but the white meat yield from these 3-5lb fish is just crazy and in my opinion put they taste better than a Yellowtail Snapper.
