Key West - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Fishing Report. Jan. 10, 2009. Happy New Year!!! Let's catch more fish!!!!
Schools of Bonefish are showing on the Atlantic side flats. Today we were on a large school of Bones for the entire afternoon, catching several and getting great shots all afternoon. Permit
are also showing on both the Atlantic and the Gulf side flats. With the wind in the East and the waters warming into the mid-70's, Permit will continue to show up in good numbers through the remainder of January, February, March and April.
The first wave of Gulf Tarpon should be showing in the channels soon, and we are all chomping at the bit for that action to begin. Here is an early February Tarpon taken in Pearl Basin near Key West.

Grand Slam Fly Fishing on the Turneffe Flats, Belize.
In September, 2008, Capt. Dexter Simmons joined an angler couple on a trip to Turneffe Flats, Belize. The fishing was great, and the hospitality was outstanding! We are planning a 2009 trip to Turneffe Flats for August or September and you can join us! The owner Craig Hayes has extended a generous offer for our group. They are going to run a 2 for 1 special with the price for two anglers being $5,200/week for August or September. So, divide that number in two and you get $2,600 per person! That is a $1300 discount off of the regular rate of $3900 per person. I think you will agree that this is a great deal. You can already tell that I am very excited about it! Call me or email me to sign up!
Bonefish and Tarpon Unlimited!
Bonefish & Tarpon Unlimited was developed for a simple reason – to support research, education, and conservation of bonefish and tarpon. At BTU's inception in 1998, little data existed on bonefish and tarpon, two of the world's most popular saltwater gamefish. BTU is made up of recreational anglers, guides, and marine industry leaders dedicated to increasing our knowledge of bonefish and tarpon biology so we may better manage these species and ensure the fisheries for future generations. (BTU is currently undergoing a name change to Bonefish and Tarpon Trust, with the same mission.) I encourage all anglers to join BTU!
Our Father (Mother) - Son (Daughter) Key West Flats Fishing Trips are now scheduled for throughout the summer, fall, winter, and spring.
