Great Flats Fishing in the Lower Florida Keys

Capt. Lenny Leonard
February 18, 2020
Key West - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing has been quite good so far this February. The flats are lively with fish.

Plenty of barracuda to keep the fly caster or the spin fisherman happy and smiling.

Permit are starting to frequent many flats, trying to load up on crabs and shrimp before their spring spawning.

Bonefishing is good on most days. These fish can be found with good regularity, just so long as the water temps are warmer and stable.

As long as the weather stays warm, I would expect to see a few more tarpon showing up in the creeks and rivers which surround the flats.

Don't pass up the great opportunity to go permit fishing over the next couple months.

Go fish!
