Key West - Saltwater Fishing Report

It's a new year and we are off to a great start as the weather has been fabulous in Key West. I've been quite busy and very pleased that the fishing has been pretty darn good. Barracuda fishing has been better as the evening temperatures have been falling to near 70 or bellow. This is keeping the water temps cool which in turn, makes the barracuda frisky and happy to feed. I was blessed to have a great day on the water with my Mom. She had several shots at permit and had some good quality barracuda fishing.

Always a pleasure to fish with my mom a woman who can definitely hold her own on the bow of a flats skiff.
The weather pattern looks fairly stable for the rest of the week, which should keep the flats full of barracuda and sharks. I expect to see some permit around too. I don't expect too many bonefish or tarpon around due to the cooler water temperatures.
Spring tarpon dates are going fast. Book now - don't be late!
