Key West and Lower Keys

Capt. Dexter Simmons
September 14, 2001
Key West - Saltwater Fishing Report

The storm of terrorism and Tropical Storm Gabrielle has kept us off of the flats for the past few days and will keep us tying flys for a few more days, as strong winds, heavy rain, and mourning dominate the Florida Keys climate. Now is the time to fly the American flag and fill the fly boxes with Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit fly patterns in preparation for some great fall fishing in the Keys. Anglers in the know will be flocking to the Keys this September and October for some outstanding Bonefishing on the flats. There are also Permit and baby Tarpon available. The fishing should be great once the tropical storm has departed and the wind and seas calm down. Prior to Sept. 11, we had some great bonefishing on the flats with tailing and cruising fish everywhere on the Gulf side flats. Click here to see streaming video of a "Beauty of an 8 pound Bonefish" landed on FlatsMasterBefore you travel to the Keys for some outstanding Bonefishing this fall, contact Capt. Dexter Simmons for a "live report"! Call Capt. Dexter at 305-745-3304 or email at [email protected]. Tight Lines and Screaming Reels!
