Key West - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Fishing Report. March 26, 2010. Permit are MARCHING!!! This afternoon we found large schools of Permit on the Key West
flats when the water warmed into the mid 70's, and some singles and doubles too. On Tuesday, Dan Cook of Montana caught this
beauty with Capt. Dexter aboard FlatsMaster.
TARPON ARE MIGRATING!!! This morning I was fortunate to have a guide's day on the water and be in the right place at the right time to witness scores of Tarpon migrating into the channels and basins in the Lower Keys. I landed a 50 pound fish on a cockroach fly and had shots at fish in the 100 pound class.
The Permit bite and the Tarpon bite should continue to get stronger during the current warming trend.
This past fall there were lots of Permit on the flats, as our weather was quite mild. Here is a 24 pound Permit and a 6 pound Bonefish taken by Atlanta Braves star lefty Tim Hudson. Tim and his wife Kim celebrated their 10th anniversary here in
the Keys. Good luck to them, they are a great couple!
